Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral to see a gastroenterologist?

In most cases, no. Some insurance plans require a referral from your primary care physician, so it is worth checking your plan before you book. Call (407) 445-9224 and our staff can help.

Where are your offices and what are your hours?

We have four offices — MetroWest Orlando, Kissimmee, Clermont and East Orlando — all open Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. See all four locations with maps and directions.

At what age should I start colon cancer screening?

Most adults at average risk should begin at age 45. You may need to start earlier if you have a family history of colorectal cancer or polyps, a personal history of inflammatory bowel disease, or a known genetic syndrome. See colon cancer screening.

Can I book a colonoscopy without an office visit first?

Often, yes. Direct access colonoscopy lets average-risk patients with no symptoms go straight to the procedure. If you have symptoms or a complex history, you will need a consultation first.

Do you have Spanish-speaking physicians?

Yes. Dr. Antonio Soto-Ramos and Dr. Sheryl Rosa-Cruz both see patients in Spanish. Lea esta página en español.

Where are procedures performed?

Office visits take place at our four clinics. Procedures such as colonoscopy and upper endoscopy are performed at our Orlando Center for Digestive Health and at Millenia Surgery Center.

Will I be sedated, and can I drive myself home?

Patients are sedated for endoscopy and colonoscopy, so you must arrange for someone to drive you home. Plan for some recovery time afterwards.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

A photo ID, your insurance card, a list of your current medications, and any relevant records or test results from other doctors.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. Call (407) 445-9224 or use our contact form to book.
